About the EJ Holden
Released in July 1962, the ‘All New’ Holden EJ retained the mechanical set up of the previous model Holden EK. The body was a completely design. The EJ was sleeker and more modern looking than the old 1950’s style EK. General Motors Holden created a classic looking clean car with the EJ.
Perhaps the major stepping stone was the introduction of the Holden Premier model. The Holden Premier was the first luxury car for General Motors Holden. Originally offered in sedan only, the Premier came standard with the Hydramatic Automatic transmission. The interior was luxuriously fitted with bucket seats, buttoned leather interior, cut pile wool carpet and ‘Warmaride Heater/Demister’.
Other features standard on the Premier that were considered luxurious for 1963 were:
- glove box light
- boot light
- handbrake warning light
- day/night interior mirror
- dual horns
- two speed windscreen wipers
- windscreen washer
- metallic paint finish
- gold and red badging
- chrome plated hood ornament
- wheel trims
- white wall tyres.
